My name is Megan Nicole Gulland and I am a graphic designer based in Nashville, Tennessee, studying graphic design for 6 years. I specialize in logos, brand & identity design, infographics, package design, layout compositions, book design, and vector illustration. My passion lies in creating unique and impactful designs that tell a story and resonate with people.

Graphic design has my heart because I love art and creativity. Graphic design is a broad spectrum of typography, photo editing/manipulation, logo making, etc. It allows me to project my imagination into reality and freely express my creativity.

I was born and raised in So-Cal. I found a passion for photo editing when I was in middle school and knew I wanted to major in something related to photo editing. I took several elective classes during my senior year of high school. I took graphic design, video game design, and film/video, but graphic design resonated with me the most.

After graduating from Arizona State University, I aim to craft unique, impactful designs that tell compelling stories and connect with people on a deeper level. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to the graphic design field by creating vibrant and visually striking designs that inspire and bring joy to others.

Digital Design

When I start a logo project, I follow a clear process to stay organized and creative. I begin with research—learning about the brand, its audience, and competitors to ensure the logo stands out. Then, I brainstorm and sketch freely, exploring ideas. Once I find a direction I like, I create a digital draft, experimenting with shapes, fonts, and colors. From there, I refine the design, testing variations and polishing every detail to ensure it’s versatile and ready for use across platforms.

A logo is the foundation of any brand’s visual identity, setting the tone for how the brand is perceived. I focus on designing logos that grab attention and embody the brand’s essence and purpose. Beyond logo design, I specialize in building complete brand identity systems, which include defining typography, color schemes, graphic elements, and visual styles. I also establish clear guidelines to ensure the brand’s look feels cohesive and consistent, whether it’s used online, in print, or out in the real world.

Designing effective informational materials requires a mix of clarity, creativity, and strategy. I start planning the key information by organizing it into sections that flow logically. Then, I focus on the layout, using typography, color, and hierarchy to guide the viewer. I review the design, get feedback, and make revisions to improve clarity. Finally, I prepare the design for delivery.

A great package tells a story, communicates the brand’s essence, and connects with the customer on an emotional level. My package design process ensures that every detail is thoughtfully considered to achieve these goals. I start by diving into the product itself and the brand it represents. I seek inspiration that aligns with the product’s unique story and values. Next, I begin brainstorming and sketching concepts. Once I’ve selected a direction, I create a digital prototype, experimenting with layout, graphics, and finishing details like textures or die-cuts. After completing the initial prototype, I refine the design based on feedback.

For layout composition or book design, I follow a structured process to ensure a polished final product. I start by planning and sketching thumbnails to explore ideas and decide on the best arrangement. Next, I refine the layout in Adobe InDesign using grids, gutters, and margins. Once satisfied, I gather the necessary content, place it into the template, and review the design to ensure it looks professional and cohesive.

I love incorporating vector illustrations into various areas of graphic design, as they add a unique touch of creativity and clarity to projects like posters, logos, packaging, and more.
